Avoid if you want to get any sleep, This backpackers is a very noisy place with people coming and going all hours. Music is loud and it is hard to relax.

Friendly greeting when we arrived. Quick check in. Immaculate room in very good condition considering it was a backpackers. We were staying one night for a wedding so definitely didn't fall into the backpacker category but found the accommodation more than adequate.
Water wasn't very hot for showers.

I stayed in a double unit and found it very clean, modern and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Two things that I didn't like were the thick bedspread as it was warm at night and didn't have a lighter cover and the noise at night from the pub.I took earplugs which helped.

the receptionist was very freindly and helpful, the accomodation represented excellent vaue for money and the furnishings where of an very good standard. "very impressed with the room" and impessed with the fire protection. well done!!
there was noise through the night from doors banging, it appears that the door closers are very agressive maybe a damper could be fitted to stop the contact from door to frame if this was remmedied i would recommend your hotel. there was also what appeared to be a conferance call held at 3.00am that lasted approximately 30 miniutes, i know that this is out of your control. maybe house rules could be implemented for the comfort of guests

Good location, inexpensive and adequate. Although elderly we found the atmosphere very pleasant, and enjoyed the young people around. We have used base twice, and will continue to do so.

The surrounding countryside was amazing. I took a flight to Milford Sound and this was the highlight.
I requested a lift to the airport early in the morning and went for a walk. When I returned it still hadn't been arranged and the taxi company would not answer their phone. A shuttle bus was arranged so it was all goog, but why wasn't the shuttle arranged in the first place. The driver told me they meet/drop off to all flights!

The rooms & bathrooms were modern and clean. I thought the 'great town' book that was supplied was excellent - heaps of ideas for activities and entertainment on different budgets.

We stayed here 8 nights on a private ensuite room; good staff, clean room, confortable bed, and nice views. Has central heating with adjustable temperature which is essential in the winter. Overrall I would say it is good except for the noise. One night we had really noisy neighbors, so I went out to politely ask them to keep quiet, and being drunk and drinking as they were (even though there is not supposed to be any alcohol in the hostel), they started making racist remarks and trying to fight me. I reported this to reception and they kicked them out. This was good, but because of the fear and discomfort we felt all night we felt that it would've been better if they had made those guys pay for that night for us. I would say it was good.

The cheap rates.
I would have liked the private rooms to have had a side table next to the bed. Also the some of the facilities were broken, E.G. the light above the bed and the bathroom door handle.
